Realale.com was established in early 2005 to make the wide range of high quality, but often unknown, real ales; ciders; perries ;and beers produced by British micro-breweries readily accessible to you. In August 2006 at the Great British Beer Festival we launched our Monthly Ale Club followed soon after in October with our European beer section. Since then we have expanded the number of different beers we offer, including beers from the rest of the world, including the exciting craft beers imported from the USA. We constantly strive to bring unusual and interesting beers from microbreweries all under one roof. Not only giving our customers more variety than they might find elsewhere, but also supporting brewers in their trade and giving them a market place to sell their beers. Our ethos is firmly based around giving customers the opportunity to try interesting and different beers, which would otherwise be hard for them to find. We also believe passionately in matching good food with good beer. The huge range of flavours, aromas and textures of beer makes it a perfect match for nearly any kind of food.
The beer scene
The increase in well-crafted beer from microbreweries across Britain and also the world has began to appeal to a wider market, both young and old, with consumers developing their palates for the depth and quality of different style beers. We see ourselves as part of this movement, educating our customers in what good beer should taste like. We now offer monthly tasting evenings at our shop, attracting brewers such as BrewDog, Kernel Brewery, Meantime Brewery and Wye Valley to name but a few. We bring the brewer direct to the consumer, allowing them to really understand what goes in to making great tasting beer. We also regularly team up with other local businesses to promote their offering to customers. We've therefore joined forces with local delicatessens and cheese shops to further enhance how versatile beer can be. The team regularly takes part in beer competitions, as official judges. We are judges on the International Beer Challenge, with our Managing Director, Nicholas Dolan, being invited to be on the final judging panel in 2010. We're also regularly on the panel for the CAMRA Beer Festival Real Ale in a Bottle (RAIB) Competition.
Real Ale in the Community
As residents of Twickenham we are keen to support and work with our local community. We volunteer our time and expertise to the St Margarets Fair each year, donating all proceeds of the bar to the Fair's chosen charities (often over £10,000). We also regularly donate beer to local schools and charities and have recently donated money to the local charity, HANDS. Nick also helped to set up the East Twickenham Traders Association, bringing shops and businesses in the local area together as one voice and to make the area a more attractive place for our customers and residents of the area.
Supply to Marks and Spencer's
Since 2007 we have been supplying Marks and Spencer's with a range of bottle conditioned ales from regional brewers.
We have been able to work closely with Marks & Spencer's to source and develop their beer range, with small brewers, which has been a unique experience and has undoubtedly taken us to the next level in the industry.
The 11 different beers and cider supplied include Scottish Ale from the Cairngorm Brewery; Yorkshire Best Bitter from Hambleton Ales; Lincolnshire Best Bitter from Bateman.s; Norfolk Best Bitter from Woodeforde.s; London Porter from Meantime Brewing Co.; Sussex Golden Ale from Hepworth's; Wiltshire Rum Beer from Wadworth Brewery; Cornish IPA from St Austell Brewery; Welsh Honey Bitter from Conwy Brewery; Cambridgeshire Summer Ale from Oakham Brewery and Breton Cider.
